7 Steps to Consistently Generate Leads

A few years ago, my business was a rollercoaster of stress and self-doubt. I remember my first year in business, where I made exactly $243.22—not nearly enough to survive. Every month felt like a fight to get clients, and when things didn’t go well, I would retreat into Netflix and blankets, hoping things would magically change.

The problem? I had no steady flow of leads. My income was unpredictable, and every time I signed a new client, I felt a mix of relief and panic—because I had no idea when the next one would come.

Fast forward to today, and my situation is completely different. I now enroll Scaleurs clients daily without stress because I’ve built a consistent, reliable system for generating leads. If you want to create a steady income stream, you need a steady flow of leads.

Here are the seven steps I used to make that happen.

7 Steps to Consistently Generate Leads
7 Steps to Consistently Generate Leads

Step 1: Shift Your Mindset from Scarcity to Abundance

Before I could start generating leads, I had to believe it was possible.

In the early days, every time I struggled to sign a client, I told myself:

  • “It’s just a slow season."

  • “People don’t want what I offer.”

  • “Maybe I’m just not good enough.”

But here’s what I learned: your mindset directly affects your results.

I started repeating to myself:

  • “There are thousands of people who need what I offer.”

  • “Clients are already looking for me—I just need to show up.

  • “Every action I take brings me closer to consistent leads.”

I embraced the idea that “drop by drop, the water pot is filled.” And guess what? The more I believed it, the more leads started flowing in.

Lesson: If you don’t believe you can attract leads, you’ll sabotage yourself before you even start. Mindset first, strategy second.

Step 2: Focus on ONE Platform First

In the beginning, I made a huge mistake: I tried to be everywhere at once—Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn.

The result?

  • 🚫 I was spreading myself too thin.

  • 🚫 I wasn’t gaining traction on any platform.

  • 🚫 I was burning out trying to keep up.

So, I chose ONE platform to master first—for me, it was Instagram. Once I figured out what worked, I expanded to other platforms strategically.

Lesson: Pick one platform where your ideal clients hang out and go all in. Master it before adding more.

Step 3: Create Content That Feels Natural to You

At first, I tried every type of content—blog posts, videos, livestreams, infographics. But I quickly realized:

💡 If you don’t enjoy creating it, you won’t stay consistent.

I hated going live all the time. But I love writing, so I focused on Instagram posts, storytelling, and carousels. That shift made content creation easier and more sustainable.

Lesson: Choose content formats that fit your strengths and personality—not just what’s trending.

Step 4: Get New People Into Your World (Every Single Day)

One of the biggest reasons my business struggled early on? I wasn’t growing my audience.

I was creating content, but I wasn’t actively bringing in new people. That changed when I started following Derek Halpern’s 80/20 rule:

  • Spend 20% of your time creating content.

  • Spend 80% of your time promoting it.

That meant:

  • Actively engaging with new potential clients every day.

  • Using my "Love Shower" strategy to connect with new followers.

  • Repurposing my content on different platforms for maximum reach.

Lesson: If you’re not growing, you’re not selling. Attract new people daily.

Step 5: Show Up & Create Content (Even When You Don’t Feel Like It)

Let’s be real—consistency is hard. Some days, I didn’t feel like creating content. But I knew that skipping a day could quickly turn into skipping a week… then a month.

So, I developed systems to keep me on track:

  • Do it first thing in the morning—before distractions kick in.

  • Batch content in advance—so I’m never scrambling at the last minute.

  • Reward myself—if I publish 7 Instagram posts in a week, I treat myself.

  • Put it on my calendar—because if it’s not scheduled, it won’t happen.

Lesson: Your success is built on small, daily actions. Stay consistent, even when it’s hard.

Step 6: Promote Your Content Relentlessly

Another huge mistake I made? Posting and hoping people would magically find me.

Nope. Doesn’t work.

Now, when I create content, I make sure people see it:

  • I email it to my list.

  • I post it on multiple platforms.

  • I engage in the comments and start conversations.

  • I reshare old content that’s still relevant.

If you’re putting effort into creating content, make sure you get it in front of as many people as possible.

Lesson: Your best content won’t work if no one sees it. Share, reshare, and promote consistently.

Step 7: Commit to the Long Haul

This is where most people give up too soon. They expect instant results, and when they don’t see them, they quit.

But lead generation is like growing bamboo:

  • For the first few months/ years, you see nothing happening.

  • Then, suddenly, in the fifteen month, it grows 80 feet in six weeks.

That’s how business works. If you stay consistent, the results will come.

Lesson: Success isn’t overnight. Commit to the process, and the leads will come.

Final Thoughts: You Can Create a Predictable Lead Flow—If You Stick With It

Looking back, the biggest difference between struggling me and successful me was consistency and strategy.

✅ I shifted my mindset.

✅ I focused on one platform.

✅ I created content I actually enjoy.

✅ I brought in new people every day.

✅ I promoted relentlessly.

✅ I stayed consistent, even when it felt pointless.

If you’re struggling to generate leads, trust me, I’ve been there. But if you stick with these steps, your lead pipeline will start to flow consistently.

And once you have a steady flow of leads? Everything changes.
